Aging is the Best Way to Live

~~It sounds silly, but this statement made by Daniel Auber does make a lot of sense when you think about it. I paraphrased his statement in the title of this article, but his entire quote is: "Aging seems to be the only available way to live a longer life."

That's right, the only way that we can live a "Longer Healthier Life" is to age. The real question is, how will we accomplish this task that is set out before each and every one of us from the first breath that we take on our own? Some choose to take this journey by treating the vessel that we make this decades-long trip wrapped in by feeding the pristine jet engines the wrong fuel, and coating our "air filters" with tar, nicotine, and soot, not realizing perhaps that these choices are causing a premature breakdown of the perfectly synchronized parts. This also makes the journey much more difficult not only on ourselves, but also on those around us as well. Then we multiply these evil deeds with the complications of not giving the entire system enough rest. This lack of rest often takes the form of traffic jams in the healing pathways of the nerve impulses from the brain to the rest of the body. These traffic jams in the brain impulses to the rest of the body are the "Big Kahuna" of mental and physical breakdown which is propagated by what we commonly refer to as STRESS! Yes, the Big S word is the icing on the cake of our interference with the normal healthy aging process.

We often don't see how all of these negative influences are impacting on our journey until the irreversible damage is already done. That is correct, I did say irreversible. I learned early in my journey down the Health and Wellness Paradigm that an organism will get to a specific "tipping point" where the negative lifestyle choices that have been made create an insurmountable level of damage. At this level of significant tissue, organ, and system destruction that has typically occurred over decades of time, any reparations in lifestyle, no matter how significant, will totally reverse the breakdown. That is not to say that "some" repair isn't always possible. I am simply saying that a full reversal of the process may not be possible by this time.

The question then becomes; "What do we do, and when do we do it?" If we look at what many in our mainstream begin to do once they notice the damage, it can be somewhat amusing. Watch movie stars as they arrive at their fifth and sixth decades. They begin to notice and focus on the external appearance of the vessel. They unfortunately miss the fact that these changes externally are only an indication of the significantly more important mirrored changes that are occurring inside of the "vessel". The fatty liver, the shortness of breath, the elevated blood pressure, the recurrent cough, and the increased abdominal girth are all indications of the negative effects of the long term incorrect lifestyle choices that have been made. By focusing on the external changes these individuals believe that they can use cosmetic surgery, liposuction, and tummy tucks to compensate for the negative health effects. This may change the external appearance, but does nothing to change the internal damage that has been done.

You see some of the external changes may be normal and have little or nothing to do with Health and Wellness. Graying hair can be very attractive and an indication of gracefully aging, as well as of wisdom and knowledge.

The important takeaway from this dialogue for all of you is this, you must take care of the internal landscape, and nurture its development as you progress though this journey that we call life. In many ways this internal environment maintenance is more important than some of the external appearances changes that we become so focused on as we age. The true takeaway is that by making the correct choices in lifestyle early and throughout this decades-long journey, you will reap the rewards as the years tick on. Even if you have chosen poorly in the past you can make positive improvements in the internal landscape by improving upon those choices. Remember that it is never too late to make those improvements in lifestyle, and the benefits will be lasting.
